I bet Huck’s Army Director David Schmidt was giddy with excitement when someone reported that there might be yet another flip-flop by the notorious flipster, the flippiest, floppiest, flipper that ever flopped, Mitt Romney. I bet he could hardly contain himself, scrambling to the keyboard to add his stamp of approval on this new bit of news.

Breathe now, David you can do it. Just calm down. Steady fingers now. You can finish typing this blog before you wet your pants. Oh, this is just so good I can’t stand it. Romney is definitely going down now. I just can’t stand him, that Romney, with his smug smile, everyone lavishing him with attention, when it all should go to Huckabee. And that perfect hair. Uggh.

Did Romney flip-flop on TARP? I don’t know. Until Romney says more on the issue this is innuendo at best.

I don’t have a problem at all David reporting any alleged flip-flop by Romney. It seems every opponent of Romney is already freely doing that at will and I’m accustomed to it.

What I would like to point out though is the narrow-mindedness (and might I even add hypocrisy?) of David Schmidt. David a self-avowed disciple of Mike (now-I’m-going-to-show-you-the-TV-ad-I-piously-decided-not-to-show-on-TV) Huckabee’s Vertical Politics Institute.

Huckabee in his own words:

Politics ought to be VERTICAL … Elections ought to be about elevating the best ideas and exposing the worst ones—not engaging in character assassination with half truths, innuendoes, and disputable “internet facts.”

(Misspelling of the word innuendos by Huckabee, not myself.)

A very commendable statement by the Governor. David, you would do well to follow his advice. Why post at an anonymous blog that dedicated solely to assinating Romney’s character when you have your own blog at Huck’s Army to post whatever you want to promote Huckabee or tear down anyone that stands in his way? Ahh, because it’s not really vertical politics and you don’t want to own up to it.

David claims that his posts are “Factual. Documented. Accurate.” but at the same time and in his own words responds to a commenter:

The site is factual, documented and accurate. Not reporting on the Rasmussen poll isn’t nonfactual, undocumented, or inaccurate. Unfair, maybe, but not untrue. Plus, lots of other places are reporting on that poll…we like to be fresh.

Ah, I see. Being fresh is more important than being fair. Looks like a page taken right out the MSNBC playbook.

Having read David’s material I can assert that much is half-truths, innuendo, and it is all definitely character assassination. I wonder how he would respond if we started asking about Mike Huckabee and Wayne Dumond, quarantining people with AIDS, the destroying of hard-drives from the AR capitol, being #8 on the most corrupt politicians list, charging $34,000 speaking fee for a fundraiser that only brought in $17,000, his son torturing and killing an innocent animal, Huckabee as Governor pleading to the legislature to give him any form of a tax raise, an F on his fiscal report card from the CATO institute, AR budget going up 64% during his tenure, in-state tuition scholarships for illegal aliens.

Kind of make’s your blood boil to have people bring those up doesn’t it, David? Well that’s what half-truths will do. It’s all factual. People have reported it. That seems to be your only requirement for posting about Romney. Let’s hope we don’t have to bring them up again in the interest of keeping it “fair”.

It appears the person responsible for the very negative, very one-sided website trueromney.com does not wish to own up to the work of tarnishing Romney’s name, nor cease. He has chosen not to respond to my emails, but in fact seems to be attempting covering up his identity. I have decided now to reveal who he is and to what organization he belongs. I believe his fellow supporters will not appreciate the connection to their group.

As I posted in the title person is David R. Schmidt of California. David is an avid Mike Huckabee supporter, and is the Director (ie. Head Honcho) of the most relevant Huckabee supporters group called Huck’s Army. Below is my proof and how I came to figure out who it is.

I follow a few key search words on twitter, one of which is ‘Romney’. A few weeks ago I noticed someone with the name of ‘TrueRomney’ had become very active in an attempt to malign Romney on many fronts. Having looked at the site, I became disgusted. None of the surprising “facts” were new to me, but they were presented very much in way to mislead the reader to thinking very negatively of Romney. But I’m not here to dispute the facts, cause I find it’s very fruitless with those who already have their minds made up. Regardless, I found myself very curious to know who was behind these “shenanigans”, for lack of a better word.

I looked up who the domain was registered to, but found they these enacted a privacy provision that would not allow me to see who the domain was registered to. I then googled “trueromney”. I found out it was used a lot by people at the website hucksarmy.com. I didn’t know if it was one of them who made the site but I browsed through who were the ones linking to it. No one claimed to be the originator of it, but it did find someone who referred to the site evercor.com/trueromney You’ll see if you click the link that the site no longer exists.

I then googled “evercor trueromney“. One of the results on the first page is that evercor.com and trueromney.com are IP neighbors. What that means is that they are being hosted on the sames piece of hardware. I know that’s not definite proof, but it was a clear indicator. I then looked-up the domains evercor.com and trueromney.com on “Who is” and found that they have the same registration service provider: IPowerWeb, Inc., the same registrar of record: TUCOWS, INC. and the same hosting service: HostGator.com. And reverse IP indicates there are only 49 other domains on that same server. Out of millions of websites, I’m pretty sure I’ve linked these two sites.

So, on the front page of evercor.com there is full name and email contact info for David R. Schmidt. I go back to Huck’s Army website and find on the leadership page that David is not just a member of the forum but the “Director”. I find out that he goes by the handle “davidblp” (but has recently change it to “Principles Matter” ha!), and I notice in his conversations with fellow forum members that he links to the site, but at least one other member was concerned about linking to such a blatantly “anti-Romney” website. My guess is that David must have wanted to pass the muddy gossip on Mitt around but not get his own hands dirty. If he could just do it anonymously he could get the deed done (trying to ruin Mitt) and not have it reflect poorly on him, on Huck’s Army and most importantly on his candidate of choice, Mike Huckabee. It might seem to some to be deceptive, not being forthright, and overall Un-Christian.

In a forum post David makes a very short time before the “True Romney” twitter account appears, David throws out the idea of starting Operation Stop Mitt due the positive press Romney receives as the apparent “next in line”. You can see from the link that several opposed the idea, so David decides to go it alone. Notice on the link to twitter the pleas to Palin, Pawlenty, and HUckabee to “Stop Mitt”. Sounds familiar. Also of interest, and it further proves my point that David doesn’t want this tied back to Huckabee, he mentions Palin several times as an acceptable candidate, but hardly ever mentions Huckabee.

Upon discovering who is behind the sites I decide I want to convince David that I know who he is and that he should stop, or I should let his identity be known to his buddies. I don’t want to increase the divide between the two already warring factions of the GOP so I decide to let him desist and withdraw without drawing attention to him or to Huck’s Army.

So here is where the fun really begins. After setting up this site and offering a few hints to show I know who it is, I noticed some immediate changes at Huck’s Army. One might say that a cover-up took place. The user “davidblp” soon become “Principles Matter” and he removed his location in his bio and the the links on his “signature”. Thanks to google cache here is a before, and here is the same forum after the change. Next it seems that any post that had the string “trueromney” was deleted. Here are the (non-existent) search results. But thanks to google cache we see that the string “trueromney” did appear numerous times on the website hucksarmy.com as recently as July 18 of this year. (July 18 being the date that google crawled the page, not the date the string ‘trueromney’ was posted.)

Here are other examples:

All these examples show that site was clearly scrubbed, and recently since all of the caches were made in the two months. Perhaps David wasn’t so interested in a dose of transparency as much as he was in a dose of truth. I don’t think David want’s party unity as much as he wants Romney to lose.

Should you feel to express your disgust to David about going negative anonymously, he can be emailed at davidblp@hucksarmy.com or david.schmidt@evercor.com .

The bitter person/group behind this attacking website has gone to some lengths to remain anonymous. Why? Because they know what they are doing is unbecoming of the group/candidate they represent, and they don’t want it to reflect poorly on them. In essence, they want to pass along mud without getting their own hands dirty.

Do I mind that they are saying negative things about Mitt Romney? Only because they choose to do so anonymously. Why not step forward and let us know who is laying these accusations at Romney’s feet? Why such an effort to malign a reputable political leader? Why so one sided? Is there no good in Mitt Romney? Is he the devil reincarnate? The person/group behind ‘trueromney’ seems to think so.

Well I know who it is. I have a series of 12 screenshots and links to prove it. I have them for proof lest they to try cover their tracks to hide evidence, as they have somewhat already attempted.

So Hint #1 was: PrinciplesMatter

Here is Hint #2: Evercor

Why am I giving hints instead of just outright revealing who it is? I don’t want to increase animosity between the already dividing factions of the GOP. We need to unite rather than put up divisive sites such as “trueromney”. I want to give them a chance to withdraw anonymously. Either put your name on the site and twitter account and continue write all the nasty things about Romney you want, OR take them down. If either is done I will scrub this site. Please don’t make this more than it needs to be. I’m certain the others in your camp will not appreciate your actions.

Update: Surprising how many responses to get when you post Romney’s name to Twitter. There is a definite trend showing in the results. Lets see if these folks are right.
